Deforestation
A large area of land that abounds with trees, bushes etc is called forest. And deforestation means cutting down trees in large numbers. Trees are useful to us in various ways; they provide us with wood, food and other products. They give us shade and they help to prevent droughty and floods. But the third of these services of trees is the most important. To draw quick profit from trees, men cut them down in large numbers. Trees are destroyed mostly for being used as fire wood. This destruction disturbs out ecological balance. It leads to soil erosion and deprives us of fruit and timber and causes economic loss. So, we have to realise the bad effects of deforestation. In fact, if deforestation goes on in our country may be changed into a desert.  So, we have to educate our common people and to persuade them to abstain from cutting down trees. We should create awareness among the general people about the evils of destroying forests. We should also motivate them to plant more and more trees. Otherwise, our country will slowly disappear and we will be in great miseries.

Over the last ten years of so, the garments industries have emerged as the largest sector as the source of earning foreign currency. Hundreds of garments factories have been set up throughout the country in the recent past five years. They have immensely contributed to the economy. The prime reason why garments industries have come out to be the champion in the field of export is obviously ‘cheap labour’. Labour is not as cheap anywhere in the world as it is in Bangladesh. And what is noteworthy is that the women contribute to the bulk of the working force in these garments factories as they are relatively cheaper than the men. The most remarkable characteristic of the garments industries are the revolutionary change it has brought in the lives of thousands of poor women across the country. Women whose only alternative of earning was confined to the household work of domestic servant, suddenly found a new way of earning and becoming financially dependent. A job at a garments factories may mean long hours and no free meals but this has not prevented thousands of women from work. These women have little or no education to work in these industries. A job at a garments factory gives a woman not only a steady income but also independence and dignity. Be it poverty  or circumstances the fact is that the scenario has changed a lot. The garments factories are the clear evidence of it. Here in garments factories one has to work above ten hours a day very often without any weekly holiday, sometimes with a monthly salary of taka 700.00. But still most of the women working here are happy of the fact that they can earn their own living and manage their family.
